Parliament

  • Royal Assent was given on the 15th March 2019 to The Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Bill becoming Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Act 2019.
    The Bill presented by Mr Geoffrey Robinson basically means unless you opt out before you die consent to harvest your organs after your death has automatically been given.
    Just hope you are really dead before they take your organs!
  • Stalking Act 2019 came into force on 15th March 2019 an act to protect the public from the risks of stalking. Sponsored by Dr. Sarah Wollaston and Baroness Bertin. Parts of the Bill have already come into force and parts are still to come into force.

  • Vagrancy (Repeal) Bill
    A Private Members Bill sponsored by Layla Moran and presented to parliament on Wednesday 7th February 2018. Was to have it's second reading on Friday 16 March but this was objected to and another possible date has to be set.

  • A Bill requiring banks to provide current accounts for homeless people seeking work is in it's early stages. This Homeless People (Current Accounts) is a Private Member's Bill sponsored by Mr. Peter Bone.

  • In it's early stages is a Bill to amend the length of time for which an individual may have a criminal record under the Rehabillitation Act of 1974. This is a Private Member's Bill (Starting in the House of Lords) and sponsored by Lord Ramsbotham
